キャサリン・グレインジャー(Katherine Grainger)は英国の漕艇選手で、2012年のロンドンオリンピック金メダリスト、ワールドチャンピオン六冠。オリンピック通算獲得メダル数4は英国女子オリンピアン中最多。2013年に漕艇競技への貢献を称えて大英帝国勲章コマンダー章が授与された。様々な大学で複数の学位を取得しており、現在はキングス・カレッジ・ロンドンで殺人に関する研究で博士号取得を目指している。

Katherine Grainger is a British rower, a London 2012 Olympics Gold Medalist, and a six-time world champion. With four Olympic medals, she shares the record of Great Britain’s most decorated female Olympian and was appointed a Commander of the Order of the British Empire in 2013 for her services to rowing. She also holds multiple graduate degrees and is currently pursuing a PhD in Homicide from King’s College London.

英国オリンピック委員会元会長、欧州オリンピック委員会・若者と全ての人のためのスポーツ委員会元委員長。2012年6月29日~7月1日ロンドンにて「オリンピックの価値シンポジウム」を主催。モイニハン卿は、1997年以来、英国議会貴族院議員であり、保守党の外務上級スポークスマン、スポーツ大臣、環境省政務次官、エネルギー大臣を歴任。1980年オリンピック競技大会漕艇競技銀メダリスト、モンマススクール及びオックスフォード大学ユニバーシティカレッジで政治学、哲学及び経済学修士号取得。現在、Independent Power Corporation PLC社長、政府機関や民間企業にコンサルティングサービスを提供するCMAアソシエイツのパートナーをしている。

Lord Colin Moynihan, former Chair of the British Olympic Association and of the European Olympic Committees’ Youth and Sport for All Commission, convened the Olympic Values Symposium on June 29-July 1, 2012, in London. Lord Moynihan has been a Member of the British House of Lords since 1997 and has served as Senior Conservative Spokesman for Foreign Affairs, Minister for Sport and Parliamentary Under Secretary of State at the Department of the Environment, and Minister for Energy. He was a Rowing Silver Medallist in the 1980 Olympic Games and holds an MA in Politics, Philosophy, and Economics from Monmouth School and University College, Oxford. He currently serves as a Managing Director of Independent Power Corporation PLC and is a Partner of CMA Associates, which provides consulting services to government and private sector enterprises.

3 Address by Katherine Marshall, Executive Director of the World Faiths Development Dialogue, on “Moving from Communication to Objectives: Sports Values and 21st Century Human Development Challenges”


世界宗教対話開発協会エグゼクティブディレクター。また、バークレー宗教平和世界情勢センター・シニアフェローであり、同センターの宗教と世界発展に関するプログラムの指導者となっている。世界銀行首脳として、40年間幅広い開発問題に取り組んだ経験を持つマーシャル氏は、2006年にジョージタウンに移籍、外交学部の客員准教授に就任した。ウェルズリー大学を卒業し、プリンストン大学ウッドロー・ウィルソン・スクールで公共国際関係学修士号取得。The World Bank: from Reconstruction to Development to Equity (Routledge, 2008) や Global Institutions of Religion:Ancient Movers and Modern Shakers (Routledge, 2013) 等、著書多数。

Katherine Marshall is the Executive Director of the World Faiths Development Dialogue and a Senior Fellow at the Berkley Center for Religion, Peace, and World Affairs, where she leads the Center's program on Religion and Global Development. After four decades of experience on a wide range of development issues as a leader at the World Bank, Ms. Marshall moved to Georgetown in 2006, where she serves as a Visiting Associate Professor in the School of Foreign Service. She graduated from Wellesley College and has an MPA from the Woodrow Wilson School of Public and International Affairs at Princeton University. Ms. Marshall is the author of several books about religion and development, including The World Bank: from Reconstruction to Development to Equity (Routledge, 2008) and Global Institutions of Religion: Ancient Movers and Modern Shakers (Routledge, 2013).




Round Table – Sport and the Reconstruction
The power of sport is its power to boost the recovery effort in Tohoku, its power for human life, and its power for peace. Sport gave courage and hope to the people who suffered from the 2011 Great East Japan Earthquake. It contributed greatly to their happiness and to their recovery.
Participants in the symposium will discuss and share their ideas on what sport can do for people’s happiness, for the reconstruction in Tohoku, and for world peace. Mr. Haruhisa Handa will moderate the symposium with Evander Holyfield and Michelle Kwan.

American Heavyweight Boxer, former Undisputed World Champion, Olympic Medalist Evander Holyfield is an American boxer and the only five-time Heavyweight World Champion, boasting a distinguished career with victories over other boxing greats such as Mike Tyson, George Foreman, and Buster Douglas. Before his professional career, he competed and won a bronze medal in the Light Heavyweight division of the 1984 Summer Olympics.

US Figure Skater, Tow-Time Olympic Medalist, US State Department Senior Adviser ichelle Kwan is a two-time Olympic Medalist figure skater who represented the United States in women’s singles figure skating in the 1998 and 2002 Winter Olympics, taking home the silver in 1998 and the bronze in 2002. Since retiring from figure skating, she has entered the world of diplomacy and was named the State Department’s senior adviser for public diplomacy and public affairs in 2012.
